I saw Alvamike's post on the SL website, and he seems to have a nice =
stable of vehicles, as many of us do, and I thought I would pick your =
collective brains. I have a 93 400E (perfect condition 120K mi), a 91 =
500SL w/89K mi and a 76 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow with 112K mi. Both my =
MBZ's run perfect - the 400E has been a dream to own, and it is in =
showroom conditon. My 500SL was bought off of E-Bay (not one of my best =
purchases) and it needs about $4000 to make it a cream puff. But I am =
wondering about putting that much dough into a car that is that old with =
that many miles. My thought is to get rid of both Benz's and get one =
nice one with lower miles. Perhaps you have had the some thoughts on =
this subject. I know none of us buy these cars to make money on them (at =
least I don't1) - they are to enjoy, drive, polish, etc. but at some =
point a little logic has to creep in (if a car guy has any logic!).=20
Just some food for thought.
Cheers,
GC
PS - The Rolls was a fantasy car purchase that only comes out for once =
in awhile for special occasions - much like the Queen of England =
herself!
