In the U.S., do you call the turn indicator plastic cover a lens? Yes – you
can put the later clear lens on the front and change the bulb for a yellow
one. At the same time, you could change the rear stop/brake light (lite?)
plastic from the square ridged to the later rounded ridges. You could also
fit Xenon headlights but what does all this do? If your R129 is pre-1994
(approx) then IMHO you should wear the correct lights with pride.

On the wheels, I replaced the 18 inch wheels the car came with for the
original 16 inch wheels which the P.O. luckily gave me. I took these wheels
to a paint shop where for about USD 100 they painted just the outside after
smoothing out any kerbing marks. I then gave them a coat of a Teflon product
that repels dirt and stops brake dust sticking and they look fine.

On tyres (sorry – tires) I fitted, I made the mistake of buying cheap Master
Steel tyres when I changed to 16 inch. Yes, I got a set of 4 with the
correct speed specification for under USD 450, balanced and fitted, but
there are vibration points that I never had before and which my tyre fitter
cannot balance out. It’s the old adage – you get what you pay for. I don’t
know your U.S. market but would stick with good U.S. brands (Goodyear Eagle)
or good imports such as Michelin.

What are smoked lens?
Can anyone recommend tires and/or someplace to get my stock wheels chromed?
I'm halfway between Phoenix and San Diego and Los Angeles. I have heard
there are places that will take your stock wheels in trade for chromed ones
(for a fee of course) What are reasonable tires?

thanks
adam
