[R129 SL] Seat Bleeping

Hi Everybody
Can you help, I own a 1991 R129 500SL (RHD), I recently noticed that I
can hear a constant bleeping sound when I move the passenger seat lever
for the seat to tilt forward for my child to sit in the rear, it would
normally stop once the seat is placed back in its upright position and
the lever is released, but now it stays bleeping for about 5 min with
the seat in the up-right position and also the red seatbelt warning
light in the dash does not go out at all.
Any ideas would be welcome.
