Hi Satish,

I checked the wheels on the E320 and they are as you said the E55 setup
should be, 8 x 18 ET 31 and 9 x 18 ET35. OK, that verifies that these
rims will fit on the '97 SL500. The tires on these rims are 235/40 18 on
the front and 265/35 18 on the rear.  As I understand, this is one size
smaller than the optional size for a 1997 SL500, 245/40 & 275/35. Will
this present any problem(s) if I use this one size smaller tire on the
SL? These tires only have 3,000 miles on them and I would hate to have
to buy new ones.
