Patrick,

I can perhaps answer some of the questions. Try World Upholstery for
the soft top. I believe their web address is www.worlduph.com Also,
Fletcher Jones Motorcars sometimes has soft top specials.

Don't bother with a fuel management chip for the CIS brain. It's very
ineffective. Any gains are known only on paper and not in real world
driving conditions. I would have your CO measured and insure that your
air/fuel mixture is correct. Set it slightly rich or "fat" as they say.
Also, check the distributor caps and rotors on that motor (119.960).
They're very prone to corrosion.

Finally, Eisenmann and Remus both make good mufflers for that motor.

Subject: [R129 SL] hardtop sensor malfunction, rear soft top, chip,
exhaust

Sorry to be asking so many questions on the first post!

1) Anyone else have the extremely annoying hardtop loose sensor
beeping incessantly after going over a bump with the hardtop on? Is
there a fix other than pushing the button again?

2) Anyone know a good place for inexpensive rear soft top with
windows replacements?

3) Anyone know of a chip for a 1991 500sl? the fuel injection system on
the early cars is apparently different.....CIS....

4) I am looking for a good rear muffler with a slightly more throaty
sound
than stock as well...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Patrick Greene
