PS, did you notice the nice cross-drilled brakes and large calipers on
those Silver Arrows?

These cars really *do* deliver status in spades. A nice one will ALWAYS
draw admiring glances. Anywhere....

When new, they were built as a serious sports car as were their
predecessors, but......

In the USA, how many were sold for their image only, to females as a
necessary fashion accessory for those trips to Rodeo Drive stores and
the Tennis Club, and never used as a daily driver? Can only take 2
people, and maybe some golf clubs or a very small amount of luggage for
a weekend trip. Storage of the hardtop can be a real issue too.

Given the price of entry to the R129 in the first place, I can't
understand why so few are upgraded. I have never seen a Brabus version
(but haven't been around Newport Beach, Beverly Hills or Miami lately
either!) Personally I would rather have a mint '92 with a Brabus 5.8L
than a new 600SL, if the price was the same for each and I had the
$$$...

The "panzerwagen" is a great car, but I bet very few sold new were a
first or only vehicle for general use. I bet that is why there are so
many low mileage SLs out there for sale, even R107 SL cars. (See John
Olsen's SL Market letter, probably the best resource)

Thanks Satish for starting up this list! (Are you going to buy one?) I
am glad to be among the first to join
