Hi !
I use 5 liters of chemistry (for consistency purposes).
As, as you do, can't print so often, I store WORKING strenght of 
chemistry in 5 liters cans from Ilford (the one to store stock solutions 
of PQ, Hypam, and Multigrande dev). As you may know, these cans are more 
than 5 liters capacity, and fiber base paper store a big amount of 
chemsitry, so it is never full...
I can get decent prints after months of storage. (if it is that old, I 
use the dev for contacts of my negs).
I dump the dev. once it start to become yellow/dark yellow depending of 
the brand.
I often use Ilford's PQ, Agfa Neutol NE (powder) of home made stuff like 
ID20 or dektol like.
