Aren't there - my great grandfather was a born and bred meat and potatoes
Yorkshire coal miner who fought in WWI from start to finish 1914-18, rose
through the ranks and gained a battlefield commission and two serious medals
for bravery (Military Cross and DCM) - but along with all his usual medals
is one from the Czar, awarded to him... and I've never been able to find out
the why and wherefore of that.
