Since I usually go into the field with several different types of film, I
use self-adhesive labels, which I preprint with the film type and any other
info I want) to indicate which holder has what film. After I get back and
empty the holder, I remove the label. So, labelled holders have film,
unlabelled holders are empty. After I expose a sheet I mark an "X" on the
label in addition to putting the dark edge of the slide out, because I have
been known to forget to turn the slide over when I put it back.
