Well they are "New York rude".  As in "just give me the product number 
and credit card number and get off the damn phone, you're holding up 
business" attitude.  I've been known to not give them the credit card 
number until they tell me what the shipping cost is, even though they 
ask for it.

Some people have attributed this rudeness to their religious beliefs, I 
attribute it to the fact that their rent/overhead in Manhattan must be 
close to three digits per hour, so they really don't have time to be 
hospitable.

On the other hand, other less reputable New York companies will give 
you the same service but screw up/not ship your order.  At least B&H 
sends what you bought quickly.
