Jim,

When you make your next reply to an existing thread, check the "To:" field 
in the message you are sending - my bet is that you will find the list 
address in there twice!!  Either delete one of the additional addresses 
each time you reply, or configure your EMail client to reply to only one 
instance of the list address.
