Dear Les and Philip,

I work with small slippery plastic denture teeth all the time and they
fly off at all angles when I use a flexible hanpdiece to grind them down.

The best solution to the problem might be to do all the work in a
shower stall with the plughole covered - the bits cannot escape - but a more
practical idea that has served me is one I adapted from watching a
clockmaker assemble watches. Or was that clocking a watchmaker assembling
clocks....

In any case it is to fasten a stout length of cotton cloth to the front
of your workbench with tacks and put two cotton tapes on the trailing end of
the sheet. These you tie to your waist after seating yourself at the
workbench. This forms a captive apron in front of you, protecting your
trousers from debris and catching small parts before they go into the
carpet.

Don't do as one lab did - put down industrial expanded metal grid as a
floor covering. Everything disappeared into it, including the technician's
wife.
