  I have a beef with technical literature which is filled
with abreviations which are _never_ defined anyplace. One is
just supposed to know what they are. The rule for well
written technical literature is to define an abreviation the
first time its used. You can then put it in the index.
  Index? What's that? Well I guess they are too much work
these days despite the fact that a word processor can do
them almost automatically.
