Funny - this is what I do too. Most of the time.

I don't presoak when tray developing, except when using monobath dev/fix; and 
then it's just to slow down the process a little touch.

I believe the problem with dye removal is worse with Kodak films. I have had 
just about any colour of the rainbow with these, but have yet to see any 
residue on any Ilford film.
