[LargeFormat] Plate Holders & Flim Holders - different planes?

When I used sheet film in glass plate holders I needed to put each piece of
film in a film sheath, which I put in the plate holder. I guess this moved
the emulsion of the sheet film towards the lens by the thickness of the film
sheath, which might have taken into account that glass plates were thicker
than film. Is this relevant to your question? Philip
