Dear Philip,

    It is hard to avoid ex-soldiers when you belong to a rifle or pistol
shooting club. Also ex-policemen and such. Many times they are
interchangeable.

     But this is all to the good. They are generally safer with the firearms
and their other skills are very useful in general life ie. hauling heavy
weights. I do shoot portraits of them - did a series for the millenium - but
most of them don't fit into their uniforms any more.
