Many of you seem to do 8x10 contacts... clearly composition is important as
cropping isn't possible this way.

So I'm curious to know how the rest of you shoot large format. Do you crop
in the camera or leave space to do so in the darkroom?

Greetings,

Generally I find I'm croping in the camera, but that's usually detrimental -
sometimes I'm a slow learner.:) This works out well when I shoot 8x10 as I
have never enlarged an 8x10, but on smaller formats I forget to calculate
the negative carrier cutoff. I'm planning to do some filing, or get a glass
carrier, but until then...

Sometimes I do make a conscious decision to seriously crop an image, as in
shooting full frame with full knowledge that I'll print it as a panoramic.
I also shoot my 6x6 Hassy will full intent to make an 8x10 (i.e. 6x4.5)
print, but I also print about 50% of them full frame. It's really dependent
on the image and what moved me to take it in the first place.

Regards, Pete
