    Pack them with linen cloth strips, punch a hole in the top, set them on
top of the fire and use them for making char-cloth for flint and steel fire
lighting.

    Fill them with parafin wax and a wick and have a weatherproof candle.

    Fill them with kerosine and stand the kitchen table legs in them. Stops
the ants crawling up the table.

    Fill them with black powder and a fuse and push them down onto a
funnel-web spider hole and set it off.

    Fill two rusty ones up up with old silver coins and bury them in the
garden. Then let the kids dig one up and tell them that there are more
throughout the garden. Result? The whole thing tilled over with no efort on
your part.
