Don,
Ran my had over the focusing track last night briefly and didn't feel any
gears - if I get the time tonight will take a quick digital snap and put it
up on the f32 Discussion Forum at http://www.f32.net/discus/
It may be the case that the head runs on a Vee track in which case there
may be "jib" adjustments similar to those on a lathe bed if you are
familiar with this concept.
Since carrying out a huge clean up operation in other parts of the house,
the darkroom is temporarily home to items ranging from a motorbike to a
guitar amp in addition to large format cameras on tripods, furniture and of
course the enlargers and sinks etc. Bit of a 'mare to sort out but it is
now top of the list....
Cheers,
Clive
