Dear Dave,
I live in precisely the same sort of climate on the other side =
of the Indian Ocean. I located some large silica gel boxes some years =
ago when I wanted to dry out the inside of a gun storage safe and they =
have worked ever since. When the crystals get too full of water a litmus =
strip at the bottom turns colour and I pop the boxes into a low oven to =
drive out the moisture - then they go again for months.
The other trick I used was to rig a 25 watt light bulb in the =
gun safe and the slight warmth in there also kept the moisture at bay.=20
The silica gel boxes are available from gun dealers.
