Now that's interesting!  So it seems that the "2" indicates Kodak Model 2 
rather than any serial number and the stamps on the bed were probably to 
ensure that the front of the extension went to the front and the rear to 
the matching face of the rear hinged part of the bed. Either that or there 
was another model of Kodak camera produced at the same time and place and 
this was to avoid confusion - were there other similar large format cameras 
produced by Kodak at this time?

Was also wondering about the standard tracks in the bed.  Are they metal 
lined in your cameras?  I guess they are lined but I have seen some cameras 
where the standard rails run in plain wood......
