I also used Chaffhaye a number of years back until it became a problem to get.  A local source dropped it and then the nearest source was quite a drive.

I used it for "special needs" much as Elizabeth described and also mixed in some with the regular grain ration. Made them slow down in their eating instead of gobbling grain!  It was also handy to have during very dry years here.

I liked the product very much and would have continued to use if it hadn't been an issue to get.

well, I thought I replied but never saw it show up here. so yes, I have been using Chaffhaye for about a year now, but only on select animals due to the cost, I have 2 sheep, one Jacob and one coopworth, who have lost their teeth and cannot chew the hay, so they get chaffhaye year round, I use it for my nigerian dwarf goats and for times when I may have to bring an animal in (lambing) or illness. I really like, keeps for a long time in the bag butneeds to be used within a couple of weeks once opened. I find I can make it last longer in the cooler weather than in the summer before mold. I like it. for reference, i pay 15.25 from my dealer
