Tim:
I have had the same situation here, and have had a couple white lambs born
over the past 15 years. All of the ewes and rams are purebred Jacobs, and
there is a very low inbreeding coefficient. I posted some photos of last
years white ewe lamb on the Jacob Face Book page. I kept her and plan to
breed her this fall, just to see, as she is a very nice ewe with lovely
fleece. This year however I had 3 white lambs out of 36 total...so this is
getting a little ridiculous:) I guess I will change rams and hope for the
best.

>From what the Jacob Folks on Facebook said, a white lamb is like one big

spot. The Jacob person from England seemed to think it could be an
inbreeding situation, but my paper work suggests nothing of the sort. I
thought perhaps one of the ewes had switched moms right after birth as she
was the one who had the previous white lambs, and then 3 different ewes
produced white lambs this year. The white lambs have always been a twin to
a nicely marked jacob lamb.
I originally thought of the white lambs like a white buffalo, or a crop out
paint, but the regularity with which it is appearing is not something I
like. Oddly enough the mother ewes have always treated te white lambs like
they are extremely special:) Pure white lambs are not register-able, and
any register-able offspring would have to start over as FF. However I am
interested to see how this beautiful white ewe produces.
