Yes, that is exactly what I am seeing in my lambs. I would call it lilac, yes : ) The spots on my lambs last as well, just become less evident as the wool grows out. I have never seen one with that much color going on though.

I'm wondering if you all think that what I'm calling tawny spots are
what you would call 'lilac' spots?

She had a lilac ram lamb this spring.

Lali, 2010, body spot on back and below right ear - these have not
lasted, or maybe I can't tell the lighter spots from her faded dark
at shearing time?
