Could you please send me a close up photo of one you would consider a chocolate lilac? The color is hard to see in the photos attached.

Ive been one of the lilac lovers for a few years now.. I have quite a variety of lilac variations. Im hoping to get everyones imput at AGM this year...

Most of my flock came from the old Sherack flock. I have a very heavy influence of my old ram Lillywold Job http://jsba.netfirms.com/cgi-bin/geneal.pl?op=tree&index=7257&gens=5&db=jsba.dbw he is a blueish lilac Im also attaching a photo, Taken as a 10yo ram. His lilac color is still obvious, maybe a little faded, but not much! He mostly traces to the Limnaki Flock.

Most of my Jacobs of this bloodlines keep their lilac color.. i was really first introduced to the fading element of the lilac color this year at AGM.... and have one ewe in my flock that seems to be a fader now as a 4yo.

I have been using lots of lilacs in my flock.. and at this point, Im pretty sure that the lilac is breeding true. We had well over 50% lilacs born this year.

I dont have very many of the Chocolate types in my flock.. I have a few chocolate lambs and sold a Chocolate ram last year.

Im not finding any direct correlation of what type of Chocolate I get.

I bred Lillywold Job to Sherack Eve http://jsba.netfirms.com/cgi-bin/geneal.pl?op=tree&index=10942&gens=5&db=jsba.dbwseveral times now, and mostly get lilac lambs. Of the 8 lilacs she has had for me, her 2010 ram, Moose Mtn Hercules is the only true chocolate and most of the others have been blue. This years ram lamb is blue, and his twin sister is Black & White. Im a little uncertain which type of lilac this years lamb will be, but he appears blue.

I have a black and white ewe , Sherack isabella http://jsba.netfirms.com/cgi-bin/geneal.pl?op=tree&index=10947&gens=5&db=jsba.dbw (job daughter) who has given me all lilac except 1 lamb... that one lamb bred to a B&W ram with no lilac background was mostly B&W with a few lilac spots mixed in! She always produces the chocolate type..... hs never had a blue type lilac.

I Have, on several crosses ,gotten 1 B&W and 1 lilac in twin situations when bred to black ewes but always twin lilac when bred lilac to lilac.

My only Chocolate ewe, Sherak Razabeth is registered as a b&w while her registry photos (thankfully they were attached to the registry certificate when they were sent to me!) is DEFINITLEY a chocolate type lilac...and she never produced the chocolate color. I also attached a photo of her. She was registered in 1999, and was about 5 yrs old at that time..So we were told by the folks we got her from... She was defintiley AGED when she passed this year...guesstimated as 17ish. She kept her dark lilac color all thru her life.the photo attached was taken in 2010.

I wish I understood more about the lilac traits, and love seeing them in others flocks.. as they seem to vary so much! I am really enjoying this thread!
