Dear Shari - That is "the link". The 14% is an average across three
geographically dispersed flocks; range being 10%-18%. When the lysosomal
disease was originally discovered, the source was traced to the original imports
from Great Britain and the ram bred by Tony Turner (Nova Scotia), Turner's
183K. Knowing the affected lambs and being able to trace back carriers,
breeders were told in 2002 (JSC, JSBA, ALBC, USDA) of potential problems and
breeders who had Jacobs from the imports through these lines should be
aware. The three flocks tested were breeders who believed they had stock from
183K, Lasseau, Fieldwood, etc.

There is good news and bad news: the bad news is they have a mutation
carrier, the good news is the carrier genetically links their flock to the
imports and they know which ones are carriers and which are not. If you belong
to a Jacob breed organization, you may want to check with them for
guidance and any pedigree help. If I can be of further help, please let me know.
Regards, Fred Horak

Fred,

I am pasting a link and would like to know if this is the article that you
are referring?
Hope this link works as it is very long. See below:
14% is significant and I had not seen that stat. previously.
Thanks,
Shari Staines
