llama alarm sounds like a car going off.  In an Aug 2005 coyote attack one gelding went after the coyote and the others  (females)took the sheep to the barn.

Thanks for all the replies. It seems there are many satisfied llama owners.

One thing that stood out in the replies is that most people spoke of llamas giving the alarm, but few mentioned llamas actually attacking. In speaking with SE Llama Rescue, the woman told me that they do tend to be more sentinels than actual defenders. They use LGDs to protect their llamas!
