I really hope the comment about a class action lawsuit wasn't serious...

After the fire, Sterns was denied the right to rebuild on their historic location where the factory was founded since "it didn't fit into the plan of the city". Read that as, "we want a more upscale clientele now, we don't want a factory taking up valuable waterfront, even if it WAS there first and helped get our city started." And I remember hearing that they had a ton of insurance issues. So Jeff started looking for another place and hopefully has found a spot in Milwaukee. But this isn't the kind of business that is easy to locate and he's had a lot of hurdles to jump trying to get permits. I haven't had a chance to talk to him lately- maybe I'll have to give him a call this week.

Perhaps he isn't the best at communication, but from what I'm hearing, neither are the other companies. Maybe it's the nature of the type of people that work in the tanning industry? I know we have another tanning company about 15 miles from my house. They do a good job on deer hides. They won't touch sheepskin. And they are swamped doing the other hides. Sound familiar?
