Thanks, Gail. We do like it here but it is the Jacobs that give it personality. I have been asked many times how I was able to cut and paste such a neat photo. Well, it was just one of those Kodak moments. Never happened before and hasn't happend since. My Dad had just arrived for a visit from IL. He needed to stretch his legs and wanted to see the sheep. So we walked to the end of our yard and I gave my usual call, "Here Sheep, Sheep," and they came running. Usually they run down the creek bank and right up to me. When they got to creek, they all stopped and spread out so each one could see who the stranger was. I am thinking, "Darn, I sure wish I had my camera!" Just so happened Sue was looking out the kitchen window and saw them. She grabbed the camera, ran outside and snapped as many shots as she could before they started to move.

The ram is Chestnut Ridge Tip bred by Lane Harris back in 1998. The ewes are mostly Craft (Bob and Mairanne )and Maple Hill(Betty Berlenbach) breeding. My one disappointments at the time was that one of my all time favorite ewes to this day, Maverick Avonlea, was the only ewe not in the front row. You can just see the top of her head and her great horns peaking over the back of Maple Hill Karen the right side of the photo. But it is so appropriate. She is such an intelliget ewe, always hanging back to check out things first. She just turned 10 and delivered her 16 and 17th lambs for us. Glad you enjoyed the web site but thanks go to Katrina Lefever for designing it and to Linda Bjarkman for helping me update it.

I just had to tell Royal, that I clicked on his website and was completely captured by that beautiful picture of his farm. It looks like something out of Currier & Ives!! All of you have some amazing farms and sheep. I love visiting all your sites. And Royal, how did you get those sheep to line up for you, or did you paste all their pics together??? lol Anyway, I enjoyed my online visit to your farm. After seeing all your sites, I realize how out of date my site is. Guess I'd better get to work.

We're finally lambing here in Kansas. The boy - girl odds aren't going well, with 3 rams & 0 ewes so far. I'm beginning to think there is something in the water, because we have had 2 sets of twin goat kids and they are all boys too! One more full Jacob ewe to lamb and 2 Jacob/ Katadin X ewes also. We're praying for girls!!!

I've posted new pics of our lambs and goat kids (have to get a pic of the lamb born yesterday) on our site. I really enjoy this time of year, lots of babies to hug and watch play! The ram lamb that was born yesterday, amazed me by running right up to me and introducing himself. Most stay close to Mom and I have to catch them to do my inspection & navel care, but this little fella seems to have a very out going personality. Not sure if that will be a good thing down the road???

Happy lambing to everyone!

Gail
