Royal - hope all the problems came first and the rest of lambing will be a breeze!

Carl - do you put your groups together the same time every year? I'm curious to what factors contribute to successful breedings. Around here, I don't think I could get a breeding that would lead to January lamb if I tried. If I put them together early, some lambs will be born the middle of February, but most will wait until March. The only January Jacob lambs we've had were from a ewe that arrived here from Oregon already bred. I breed for March lambs most years, which works the best for me. Last lambing was the first year that we had all the ewes sheared before lambing. I'm sure going to keep on with that. Besides being easier to watch your pregnant ewes, the ewes are much calmer being shorn if they aren't screaming for their lambs.

Yep, my ewes are all smarter than I am!
