[Jacob-list] AGM and Shaul's Mfg. warning on feeders

I have used several of Shaul's feeders for years. I have plywood inside the feeders from the middle up to prevent hay from falling in the wool. I have never had horns caught in them. I think that the plywood has made them top heavy though and I have had them be pushed over at times. I usually try to use them in a place where I tie one end to a fence or panels.

Subject: [Jacob-list] AGM and Shaul's Mfg. warning on feeders

Hi All,

Just a warning from a past experience with Shaul's Mfg. feeders. I recently had a yearling ewe get her horns locked up in one of their feeders. Her horns were very solid and did not break off like you would expect, she thrashed around so hard that she pulled the heavy metal feeder down on herself and we think she died from a broken neck. Very sad story and a hard lesson learned. If you purchase one please modify it. Just a heads up...... Mary
