[Jacob-list] Destructive ram

Electric fence has saved my place. The rams were destroying my cattle panel fence around the ram pen. I straightened out what panels I could and put 2 wires around the inside of the pen. The rams don't bash it anymore. I also gave them a big round chunk of a tree that is held in one place by a T stake. For a long time they used that for a scratching area, but it has fallen apart now--need another.

Even though this electric fence is effective most of the time, if the rams fight (introducing a new ram, for instance) they don't pay any attention to the fence. One will bash the other right into it. After a round of introductions I check the fence again to make sure it's all intact and not grounding out anywhere.

He isn't aggressive at all.. Just seems to enjoy the BANG he creates!

I don't know about his fleece, but I'm not impressed with his horns tipping forward.... We thought we might use him on our flock... But I think he might hurt the quality of our ewes. His late June ewe lamb is very nice, but I just don't think it will be a good cross.....

On the freezer... I'm stuck, as all of the processors are booked for 6-8 weeks as they are swamped with County fair and State fair animals. Not to mention I took this guy in to give him a good home... a home he is trying to DESTROY! But i feel obligated nonetheless

Anyone tried the hot wire?
