[Jacob-list] HELP! Springtime Problems

I've not thought about the milking issue... may check on the udders this afternoon during feeding.

I've contacted a friend that works at NCSU's Vet. College and am sendng him some tiisue and fluid samples. The lamb that died at birth had under developed lungs... so that's explained enough I suppose.

The twins seemed healthy, one did have a dislocated "hip joint"... although being under 24 hours old I'm not really surprised by that. Otherwise, the twins and the yearling's lamb appear normal pending results from the samples sent off.

I'm suspicious of the odd weather patterns and a virus exposure personally. My neighbor has just introduced two new donkey to an adjoining pasture and the deer are still frequenting the pasture as well. Hopefully.... the other ewes will have better luck, and wait until this weekend's winter storm moves out and it warms back up.

I forgot to add something. With three ewes with full udders, I think they
would need to be 'milked out' to prevent mastitis or, at least, make the
ewes comfortable. I'm not sure about this, so perhaps others on this list
can comment on this.
