Hi Sue,
I would sure hope Jacob breeders are not trying to make meatier Jacobs. That would be counter productive to preserving a rare breed. I do know judges always place the meatier Jacobs higher. For example, at MD this year I had two yearling rams. One was more "stocky" than the other. Amadeus (the more refined one) is what I consider a ram with great Jacob conformation. The judge suggested maybe he needed to be fed more etc and placed him two lower than my other ram. I'll still take Amadeus any day!

Just curious - are there Jacob breeders here in the states who have attempted to bulk up the body conformation of the Jacob sheep, much as the British have done? I would assume those breeders would not communicate their efforts with the general Jacob community for fear of retribution......but was wondering.
