Hi Sherry,
The amount to give is based on animal weight and is written on the
syringe that contains the paste. About 1/2 inch from the tube is all it
takes per sheep, much less for lambs. I was told to give a little more
because too little might not adequately deworm. I also give more because
some of the stuff squirts out of the mouth now and then. We used the
Ivermectin for our pygmy goat both to deworm and get rid of some lice. I
meant to give him a small amount (1/4 inch), but the lock slipped and he
got enough for a full-sized horse. I thought it would kill him, but he is
fine. Don't want to do that too many times though, probably blowout a
liver or kidney..

Because you live in Tennessee, I definitely advise would consult a
veterinarian. I visited Kentucky once and raved about the grazing all year
around and the beautiful horse farms that I saw. One lady wrote back that
its also high in the amount and types of sheep parasites, flies, etc. You
probably need to treat your sheep differently than I do in northern Idaho.

As for the diatomaceous earth (DE), DON'T use the product from the hardware
or garden store! That stuff is for garden use only. I saw a
photomicrograph of a DE, it looked like shards of glass. I wouldn't want
that around any animal. There is a food grade DE that some people use, I
don't know about that or where to get it, maybe online somewhere. It is
supposed to be safe. I'm just glad I live in a place where I don't need to
use stuff like that.
Good luck,
Cathy Partridge
