[Jacob-list] lamb weight and wool loss

It would seem to me to make sense that a milder winter would produce
larger lambs. The ewes would be able to give the lambs more energy and
not have to use so much to keep themselves war.

I have an odd happening. One of my girls, Annabelle, is losing
fleece from the back of her neck, kind of on the line where the neck
meets shoulders. She is not lambing this year (no one is). When I
looked down into her fleece it looks like it is coming right off from
her skin. No evidence of bugs or dry skin. She appears to be itching
it off with her horn. Her mood and appetite are good. They get shorn
at the end of the month. I was thinking about trimming away the area
with scissors to get a better look. She does not appear to be losing
fleece from any other areas. Any ideas?
