It would be hard to guess how to treat the horn exactly without looking at
it. Mostly, you want to treat it as you would any open wound, keep it
clean, keep the bugs out, let it heal over, which it will eventually do.
If she is young, it shouldn't take as long as an older sheep, especially
if it isn't too big. I would recommend spraying it with either a
calendula spray or a Hyper-Cal spray (hypericum and calendula mix). Both
can usually be bought at a health food store/food co-op, that sort of
place. Or you can buy the calendula and hypericum/St. John's Wort
tinctures, mix them at a 1 part tincture to 10 parts water ratio (1:1:20
in this case) to dilute it as the tincture is a stronger form and usually
in an alcohol base. Adding water cuts down the bite of the alcohol. Try
using distilled or spring water. The calendula works wonders to help with
the healing process on wounds.

Depending on where you are, the biggest thing is to keep out the flies --
if you keep the wound clean, things should go fine.

Having vet wrap around helps, too, if you need to cover it.

Peroxide works well if you need to clean it out, just rinse with water to
get rid of the bubbles and DRY WELL, otherwise you can have problems with
the water staying in the hair and attracting bugs.
