A rather short but helpful newsletter is available from the National Institue 
for Animal Agriculture.  It's free for the asking.  Their website is <A HREF="www.animalagriculture.org">

The Winter 2003 issue has some information on parasite resistance (haemonchus 
contortus / ivomec, etc.) and an excellent article on scrapie resistance 
testing (part of the testing for scrapie exposed flocks) but the test for 
codon 171 and 136 are exceptionally explained ( deserves an AA )
