Our hives are right next to the sheep areas. In spite of the fact that
I have read, over and over, tales of bees attacking wool sweaters and
wool socks, we have never had the bees fuss with the sheep. I suspect
the stories of bees hating wool are urban myths (Suburban myths? Exurban
myths?). I've worked the bees wearing wool and have never noticed a
change in attitude..

I sold a couple of nice ones to a fellow who wanted to make horns
(that is, horns to blow) out of them. These were clean and buffed up,
and good-sized. I got $10.00 each for them, which I thought was swell.
I spent a little time making them look nice. I did not wax them, since
I reason that people are going to use them for crafts and will not want
substances applied. They were not boiled. Just washed off with soap and
water and when dry buffed with a shoe polishing brush.
I sold a couple of smaller laterals to a button-maker for $5.00 the
pair.
I'd like to hear what others get for horns. I had no idea where to
start pricing.
