THe trial was last week, the judge found that the vet had committed
conversion (civil term for THEFT). The sheep are currently at my
attorney's house awaiting a hauler. I thought I had one scheduled for
tomorrow, but it turned out he wasn't available until Sunday. THis is the
last hurdle to getting them home. I wish Santy would bring me a trailer
and a truck for Christmas, but chances are they would be too big for his
sleigh. Oh well. The sheep were not in that great of condition - he
claimed he had fed 47 sheep (wethers, ewes, rams, little ones) 7 bales of
hay per day plus grain, then backed down to say he had fed them 6 bales.
He gave 5 away, 3 to a person who refuses to return them, 2 to a fellow
who will return them and said he gave a $50 donation to the vet's
nonprofit rescue prior and understood that he was only fostering the sheep
as he was told at the time the ownership was under dispute. THe vet
testified in court that this fellow had given $100 and was told the sheep
were his. Because this
was a civil case, the vet did not receive any punishment for any of his
actions and the professional regulation board felt he was right in what he
did, feels that homeopathy is poison (as the vet claims I poisoned my
sheep by treating with homeopathy) and refused to give this guy any
negative report.
That's the story - sheep are out of the clutches of the evil-doer, though
he still lurks around terrorizing other animals and their owners.
Sidenote, I have never seen them load on the trailer so easily and quickly
- the older ones really didn't even ask to get off!
