A shofar is a rams horn that was hollowed out and used as a signalling
device, like a bugle or a trumpet, to call ancient Israelites, and other
peoples to festivals, assemblies, and in synagogue. They can be used today
in calling people to religious ie. Jewish, worship, especially at Yom Kippur
and Rosh Hashana.
