Just one litle caveat folks.
Feeding grain to ruminants has been implicated in outbreaks of e. coli 0157
over here. Apparently the grain is not digested fully and ferments somewhat,
altering the pH value of the gut, favouring e. coli 0157 over the normal
varieties.
The answer is to feed sheep and cattle on hay or grass for 2 days prior to
slaughter - sorts out the pH level and restores the e. coli proportions to
normal levels.
I don't feed my sheep grain.
