    Yes, I think the primitive head is distinctive, and I don't think there is 
    any evidence showing "ginkered" (my word) horns to be any more prevalent 
    among the primitives. 
    Allow me to "reword" that....a standardized breed is going to breed...predictably.  That's because the "less desirable" traits will not be bred for.   A primitive breed is going to have a larger variety of genes, and the horn sets will be less predictable from generation to generation. A quick look at some of the older ewes, especially in Ingrids book (Puddleduck Maude comes to mind) shows one type of horn that looks very different from the "standard sets" we often find in flocks today.
