I walk with a backpack sprayer every two weeks of so and spray thistles.  My
place had its share of weeds when I bought it.  Hauled off a pick up load of
grain bags filled with thistle seed heads the first year.  Tried shoveling
out the roots and produced multi stemmed thistle plants.  Finally turned in
my hippy badge and bought a sprayer.
