it has been our experience to put all the rams together in a small pen,
depending on the # of rams with the floor covered with old tires.  The
rams cannot get a good footing so they establish their pecking order in
a pushy but not injurious way.  After about 2 -3 weeks they can then go
in the field and only exert some machoismand not to the death.  This
works well whenever it is necessary to introduce new sotck or shearing
or after breeding.
