Dear Friends,
Heart disease is the leading cause of death before age 65 in the United
States due to the Standard American Diet. Too much fat and too much sugar
does it. That also brings about diabetes, stroke, cancer,
osteoarthritis and, it's been discovered, Alzheimers and other forms of
dementia. Excessive dietary protein leads to kidney disease, as do a number
of prescription medications and OTC vitamins as well as excessive
supplements that the body must filter out. Dairy is behind teen acne and
osteoporosis in the elderly. Grown humans have no business eating calves
baby food!
If you don't believe me, at least listen to Dr. Alan Desmond. There are a
few doctors willing to tell you the truth instead of cynically writing
prescriptions when a plant based diet can cure one's maladies. Dr. Desmond
is one of them. (See the blue link below.) Another is Dr. Will Bulsiewicz,
author of the best selling book, "Fiber Fueled"--a fine read.
BTW, Charlie, I had periodontal disease due to inflammation, from eating
the SADiet. I lost eight teeth until I went vegan and my teeth stopped
falling out. After a few months my arthritis went away. The inflammation
from the bacteria load that came on all the animal food products I was
eating was what went wrong. I didn't go vegan to bring those things about.
I was surprised at the happy results *after* I went vegan. Yet this was
icing on the cake compared to avoiding the other metabolic syndrome
diseases and conditions listed after heart disease.
Best,
Frances
