First Lady-elect Jill Biden doesn’t even have a PhD, but instead an EdD, 
famous across academia for being an easy way for school administrators 
to inflate their credentials and get a bigger paycheck. While PhDs at 
least have to slave away for half a decade, balancing coursework and a 
dissertation with teaching requirements, Lady Biden’s degree was only a 
three-year part-time commitment. Not only that, but only a 2.75 
undergraduate GPA is required to enter the program. Cockburn has met 
furniture that could manage a 2.75 at American colleges (it helps if the 
furniture can play basketball).

When I got my Ph.D. I had to talk my mother out of addressing letters to 
me as Dr. Michael E... At classy universities, professors with Ph.D.s 
are addressed as Mister or Mrs. At community/junior colleges it is all 
the rage for marginal academics with Ph.D.'s in sports management or 
similar to insist on being called Doctor.

It is amusing how MLK is referred to as The Reverend Doctor Martin 
Luther King, Jr.. King got a Ph.D. in theology from Boston University 
but it has come out that he plagarized his Ph.D. dissertation. He is the 
only American who has a Federal holiday. So much for Washington and 
Lincoln, both bad whites. Still and all King advocated pacifism in the 
righteous struggle for civil rights for negroes and spoke out against 
the Viet Nam war. So all in all I count him as one of the good guys. Why 
he needed a Ph.D. escapes me. So he faked his dissertation. So what? I 
had an acquaintance, a gifted mathematician unable to complete his 
studies who solved that problem by conferring on himself a Ph.D. and put 
himself forth to the world as having a real Ph.D. Considering the work I 
had to do to earn a real Ph.D and for its utter uselessness for me in 
real life. I wish I had thought of Roy Lisker's stategem myself.
