Wife Madelon & I live downtown near the nightclub district on West 6th 
street. The nearby bars are permitted to remain open if more than 50% of 
sales is FOOD. But bars make money, big money by selling booze. And 
forwarding the sales tax to the State of Texas on multiple thousands of 
dollars received on a big weekend night. As Texas has no income tax, 
sales tax is the largest source of government monies. And the bars are 
flagrantly breaking the law by serving booze until 2am with a bag of 
chips to each table. It would seem that the police have been told to lay 
off enforcing the law.

So for the sake of sales tax money, Covid infection spread by carousing 
drunks not wearing masks is permitted. No surprise then that the 
pandemic rages on around us.
