Dear Michael and all the Ghettonians,
He did write a book about it, his new book, "Fiber Fueled" is brilliant,
science based and going viral in the food world. Doctor's denigrate the
value of food when it comes to health. One point he makes in the book is
this, We eat some 8,000 pounds of food in our lifetime and a miniscule
amount of a drug. So the food obviously has more impact on our health than
taking medication. That sure makes sense to me, the Home Ec. with my
food/nutrition credentials.
The talk was easier for me to understand than the written book which has a
bit too much scientific jargon for my layman's ear. It underscores
everything I already knew and added layers to it. My health, and Mike's too
since he and I eat alike, is great. No problems, normal labs and no
prescription meds. It can't get much better than that. People, including
doctors denigrate the food service function in society. The Help makes the
food. Polite society doesn't use their time in the preparation of food.
They are above that.
A while back I was at a social event. I was visiting with this friend who
happens to be a doctor. I told him how my arthritis and periodontal disease
went away when I had been on an all plant based diet for a few years. (Now
more than 6 years.) He said that was very interesting and being my age said
he would try it. I asked if incidentally he might mention this to his
patients. He said, "Hell no, I don't slice and dice their vegetables, I
write prescriptions." Never has anyone explained why doctors don't
recommend healthful plant based food as a way to prevent illnesses more
succinctly. This doctor is a genius.
Best,
Frances
