There is no question that it is often a matter of luck. But it is also
true that the process can be helped with the support of the right person
or persons. Here's an example of a weird inexpliquable happy outcome. My
brother-in-law Louis came down with Parkinson's. He had a bit of money
and the expectation of a bit more coming his way. My niece-in-law, who
loved her uncle, found a miracle lawyer who specialized in getting
people onto Medicaid who made it happen with a bunch of paperwork. Louis
"gave" his estate to his wife living in the Midwest somewhere and was
therefore destitute. And he got Medicaid and was moved to the best
retirement home in Central Texas in Wimberly, Deer Creek Nursing Home,
where he lived in a pleasant ambiance with a caring staff for a number
of years recently dying of his disease. The moral that I take from this
anecdote is that Pepi needs assisted living and can be helped in getting
it to happen if the right people get involved. That's why I am writing
this email. Someone knows somebody.
